Executive functioning is a set of mental processes that allow people to manage their everyday tasks, such as making plans solving problems, and adapting to new situations. These skills are also known as self-regulation and are the foundation for lifelong functioning in areas like critical thinking, decision making, and executing tasks.

Cali Johnson, our founder, began coaching students in Northern Virginia in 2014 through Linder Educational Coaching and quickly saw a need.

Executive functioning and proper study skills are lacking in school curriculums while the demand and work load is constantly increasing, leaving students struggling to succeed and losing confidence. The good news is executive functioning skills can be taught.

Many students struggling in classes across the board, appearing uninterested or completely disconnected to what is happening in class are struggling with executive functioning skills and for most, this can leave them overwhelmed and feeling there is no way forward. By teaching proper time management, planning and executing skills, as well as proper study skill (what type of learner are they and how do they study best) we are teaching students how to succeed.

Our mission is provide each student with the necessary skill sets to successfully navigate school through time management, critical thinking and problem solving, and accountability; laying a foundation that will support confidence as they grow into the next chapters in life.

I am immensely grateful to Cali Johnson for her unwavering support and guidance throughout my high school years. Struggling with ADHD, I faced significant challenges with executive functioning, often leaving me feeling overwhelmed and discouraged. Her personalized approach and genuine care not only enabled me to succeed academically in high school but also laid a strong foundation for my success in college. Cali’s mentorship has had a profound and lasting impact on my life and I cannot thank her enough for her role in my achievements.

I was never the best student in high school, therefore, a tutoring service was recommended to my family. while attending Cali was a crucial part of my learning experience. She was able to teach me proper study habits as well as keep me focused on my work. Without her help I do not believe I would have graduated on time. I enjoyed going to her tutoring after school, she was caring and always willing to whatever needed to help me succeed. I cannot recommend Cali enough to anyone that just needs a helping hand with school work or someone struggling to get through. She is the best!

I started working with Cali Johnson at the end of my 8th grade year and ended as I was finishing my senior year of high school. My family was concerned about my commitment level and ability to perform in school, I was diagnosed with ADD, and my grades in middle school
were unremarkable. With Cali, I received not only immediate help with my organizational skills and completion of homework but also learned long-term strategies for me to build on during high
school, that I have carried through to college now.
Cali is extremely well organized for all her students. One of the main benefits in my early years of working with her was having an extra set of eyes to watch over what assignments I had due in the immediate week and coming weeks to following. Something that I really struggled with in 8th grade up until 10th grade was staying organized with my assignments and Cali immediately
provided resources and guidance to help me remember to write down my assignments. This was a huge deal for my growth as a student and lead me to getting better grades. I was proud of my
achievements after steady growth from a B/C student to an A/B student and finally my junior year into a straight A student. Eventually this culminated in me getting accepted into Virginia Tech University, which was my first-choice college. Most of this tangible improvement is thanks
to Cali.
The final thing Cali is great for is encouraging students when they don’t do their work, study for a test, or prepare for a presentation. She works tirelessly to make sure students are up to
date on their assignments, and turn them in. She also mixes in a level of kindness that keeps students engaged and striving to make her proud. I can remember on a few occasions where, even with her helpful strategies, I didn’t turn in assignments. Cali remained supportive, giving constructive encouragement, and techniques to adjust for the future.

My 5 years with Cali showed me that she used her expertise to impact students’ lives. Cali is supportive, organized, personable, friendly, and stern. She met me where I was on my academic
journey and was able to propel me into a student that I could be proud of. In the past I have recommended Cali to friends and family and would do so again in the future.
